A Note from Mrs. N (from The Noenickx News, 5/14)
Last week was such a special week! Thank you all for the kind gifts, cards and letters written in honor of Teacher’s Appreciation Week. The week was made especially wonderful by the concerted efforts of the room parents, who arranged for some type of treat –delicious or humorous – each day. Mrs. Young kicked off the week on Monday with Georgetown cupcakes for my entire family (who loved them!) On Tuesday, the children presented me with a beautiful orchid and a wonderful poem written by Ms. Miller. Ms. Miller delivered a delicious salad from Sweet Green for my lunch on Wednesday. The week was capped off on Friday with a wonderful collection of jokes written by the students and organized into a book by Mrs. Wiese. We read and laughed over each one of the jokes! Your thoughtfulness and kindness really make me feel special. Thank you!
Hopefully everyone is in good shape on the folktale typing. All stories are due on Wednesday. I am happy to take them earlier if they are ready! On Wednesday afternoon, we will be putting the books together, so it is imperative that each student has his or her typed story in class that day. If you are having difficulty with the formatting or editing, please feel free to email the story to me as an attached document, and I will finish preparing it in time for Wednesday.
The children are really having fun with the sound unit in science. This week we will continue to explore the relationship between size and pitch. We will also build a model of the ear drum and conduct an experiment to see how it works. Of course, we will discuss the importance of protecting our hearing!
Have a great week!
